Bucking tradition and harnessing the excitement

TD Films is a powerhouse creative film studio headquartered in the Southwest. They use video to tell high-impact stories and ensure the focus is on converting leads and sales for their clients. So how do you help a high-powered, dynamic storytelling studio present itself as such? By leaning into their identity and refusing to be confined to the traditional notions of branding in their industry.

We went all out on this visual identity: a logomark, wordmark, and emblem. Multiple taglines. A rainbow of colors in the palette. Multiple brand image categories to pick from. All of this was intentional – the primary colors honor the great southwest, but the steps between allow for flexibility. The logo variations work online, in videos, and on apparel. The image categories can target several audiences.

Flexibility for the future

Further, the “overabundant” nature of the visual identity was intentional in many ways. Thomas Duran–founder of TD Films–often talks about his desire to balance order (structure) and chaos (creativity) in his work.

By breaking from the traditional aesthetic of many of his competitors, we left the visual identity and website flexible for future changes. It also helped us develop the first pieces of his MMA-inspired apparel.

We are incredibly grateful for Thomas’ direction on this project. His desire to center his brand messaging around the dichotomy of balance and chaos gave us a great deal of latitude in bringing out-of-the-box thinking to this project.

On another note: Our work with TD Films doesn’t start or stop with the projects above. We are proud to have Thomas and his team as creative partners and co-collaborators on many other clients’ projects we’ve worked on.
